The weather today has gone far beyond being a simple rain "event". It's pouring out there.

Black sheets of rain, falling sideways.

A monsoon. A frog throttler. A Noachian deluge.

An inundation. A torrent. A gully washer.

The river's rising. The winds are whipping.

The roads are slowly submerging.

It's definitely come on to blow.

I love this weather. Its almost dastardly when it gets to be this harsh for our normally not so harsh Southern California environment. I put up my traditional large blue tarp a couple days ago to prevent water from leaking into the downstairs part of our duplex. Normally I put up two smaller ones but opted for a newer single large one. That was a big mistake. It was like a sail in the wind. I was up and down all night retying it until my seven year old woke me at 7 a.m. to let me know it had ripped its grommets and blown away. I was back out again this morning putting up two smaller ones.

My ode to the lightning storm that knocked out our power last week:
