Mayor Villaraigosa
took the Gold Line to work yesterday, as part of his continued push to promote the use of public transit.
No mention of whether Hizzoner walked down from the Gold Line platform, crossed the busy Union Station terminal floor, and then took an escalator down to the Red Line platform to transfer to the subway for the short ride to the Civic Center station.
He probably didn't, and judging by the Gold Line's disappointing ridership numbers, a lot of other people have decided against facing that hassle as well. I don't know where the Downtown Circulator
trolley plan stands, but that type of service would definitely make it easier to get around Downtown via public transit, simply by eliminating the need to transfer from one rail line to another.
