From the "always a silver lining" department:The devastation of Katrina (and the abysmal response of state, local, and national authorites to that disaster) seems to have awakened L.A. citizens and authorities to the undeniable fact that we have our own, completely foreseeable cataclysm waiting in the wings, and that we better get to planning for our day of reckoning.
